Time Warner announced Thursday that it had released controlling stake in web provider America On-Line for the rights to a movie script.
"It's a really good script," said Time Warner Chairman and C.E.O. Jeff Bewkes.
The film, tentatively titled PsychoBaller, was penned by Ludwig Van Torres, the screenwriter known for Fall from Grace and the upcoming RoboNinja.
AOL, which built its media empire providing dial-up internet access, isn't as valuable in the broadband age as it was a decade ago.
"AOL's value is holding steady," said market analyst Jill Metzger, "It's worth about as much as a solid, reliable minivan."
TW has also asked people to stop bringing up the years it chose to call itself "AOL-TimeWarner."
"Seriously, guys. It's not cool," said Bewkes.
Warner Brothers is set to start pre-production of PsychoBaller in August, and is said to be courting Denzel Washington for the lead.
"Unless he wants too much," said Bewkes, "then we'll just put Ashton Kutcher in blackface."
