In a surprise upset, newcomer Carlos Danger has not only caught up to but is exceeding frontrunner Anthony Weiner in the Democratic primary race for New York City mayor.
"He's direct, assertive and goes after what he wants," said Shelley Feinstein, 47, who lives on the upper east side.
Many have cited his massive social networking campaign.
"Carlos really puts himself out there," said Feinstein. "He knows how to make a connection."
Citizens of New York City are also slow to trust Anthony Weiner, a man who left Congress in disgrace.
Some New Yorkers still question Weiner's judgement and sincerity.
"I feel like he's jerking us around," said Eliot Spitzer, who's currently running for comptroller. "Carlos Danger wouldn't do that."
