Less than a week after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing, several competitors have begun using the mysterious tragedy in their advertisements. "We don't lose our planes," boasts one Korean Air billboard. Air Jones, a Post sister-company, has released new ads as well. Critics call the advertisements crass and incensitive, considering that we don't yet know the fate the 239 lives on board the missing Boeing 777. "Malaysia Air customers have been fleeing to other airlines," said Simon Earlwitz, FAA spokesperson, "and could respond to whatever marketing they saw last." The only campaign backfiring is Alaskan Airlines' new slogan, "Fly safe with the one true God." "That's just asking for trouble," said Earlwitz. |
