The fire that destroyed the Post's St. Louis Bureau last Friday night was not started by Ferguson protestors, the St. Louis Fire Department declared today.
"While arson remains a strong possibility, the peaceful protestors never had access to where the fire started, or the jet fuel used as an accelerant," said Dennis Jenkerson, the fire chief of St. Louis.
Allfarmer's Insurance, the provider of the building's insurance policy with fire coverage, has called for a full investigation into the cause.
William Wick, the building owner, and Russell Sparks, the Post St. Louis's editor-in-chief, have been unavailable for comment all week as no one knows their whereabouts.
By all accounts, the bureau had been losing money for the past eight years.
"I've also spoken with the building inspector who said that structure was on the verge of being condemned," said Jenkerson.
Records indicate the building needed over $200,000 in maintenance and repairs.
"It doesn't look good," said Jenkerson.

St. Louis was the seventh bureau opened by The Morning Star Gazette in 1948, which was bought by The Morning After Post in 1996.
